Utah History Celebrated Through The Arts
The Heart of a Pioneer
With the generous support of This Is The Place Heritage Park, A.R.T.S., Inc., Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Clog America, Map World, and Beck Leather and Crafts, UPHA's pioneer band "Willingly" presents "The Heart of a Pioneer". This musical/dramatic assembly involves Utah's fourth grade students in presenting Utah pioneer history in song, dance, poetry, games, and stories. If you'd like to see "The Heart of a Pioneer in your school, contact Marged Kirkpatrick at 801-924-7534 or mkirkpatrick@thisistheplace.org.

"Willingly" (we came to Utah willingly because we had to) is Lindsay Griffin, Clive Romney, Gary Voorhees and Dave Compton.
Upland Terrace dressed all their 4th graders alike and did an exceptional job preparing them. Here are pictures of the 4th grade classes posing with Willingly, Bonnie Romney, and Mike and MaryAnn Barnard (impersonating Brigham Young and Mary Ann Angel Young).

Hammie Orr's little St. Johns cabin…the widow Walker's house built from freighters' materials…the Ahlstrom and Russell cabins now married together…the Johnsons with their amazing two-story Rush Valley cabin…and Archie Gardner and his mill…
Why were these structures, which would have been destroyed if they hadn't become part of Gardner Village, preserved? What stories needed
to be told?
Nancy Hanson, Sam Payne, Tammy Robinson and Clive Romney have been talking with the Ghosts of Gardner Village and have created an evening of enchanting musical tales from the stories they've been told.
Talk to UPHA's Executive Director, Clive Romney, at 801-706-1997 about a visit from the Ghosts to your event!
